Description

Positioned in the foothills of Mt Rumney, the Estate lies in a small corridor between the Knopwood Hills and Meehan Range, located between Hobart and the Coal Valley.

Small in scale, huge in scope, equal parts creative outlet and dedicated pursuit. The key theme is farming responsibility across sites they lease and oversee in southern Tassie. Max and Siobhan met at the Gnadenberg Church on the Hill of Grace. They galavanted around the globe, making wine in NZ, France, Germany and Oregon. On return to their roots in Australia where they settled in Tasmania. Anim is a family affair, named after daughters Audrey, Niamh and Imogen Marriott.

#History Planted by Liz McGown in 1993, the 2ha Tinderbox Vineyard is farmed solely by Max and produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. The steep north-east aspect sits atop a fascinating geology of triassic sandstone and vesicular basalt. The breathtaking Tinderbox Vineyard is perched at the entrance to the d’Entrecasteaux Channel, with sweeping views across to Bruny Island and Storm Bay. The 12ha Clarence House Vineyard, first planted by David Kilpatrick in 1998, is farmed with Max’s input and boasts several different white and red grape varieties that affords opportunities for both interesting co-ferments and single varietal offerings. The rolling, undulating site has soils primarily derived from dolerite and basalt.
