This year marks the 40th anniversary of Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, and the seventh annual collaboration between the Fremantle-based company and WAAPA’s Performance Making students. This exciting partnership introduces WAAPA’s students to the world of visual storytelling through the physical and imaginative demands of puppet theatre – and who better to teach the students than Australia’s flagship puppetry company dedicated to the development of the art form.

“This promenade performance is being made for an audience of all ages – for the young and the young at heart,” says Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s Associate Director Michael Barlow.

For their final show before they graduate, the students are letting loose their creative inventiveness to bring Spare Parts’ history, building, surrounding parkland, and favourite puppets to magical life in a stunning performance celebrating 40 years of contemporary puppetry.
