Cottesloe's Permanent 'Sculpture by the Sea' Collection

Description

The Town of Cottesloe has acquired 15 sculptures from the previous Sculpture by the Sea exhibitions and had four works gifted. These sculptures form an evolving collection for permanent public display for all to enjoy. 

Check out the attached map to view the locations of the permanent sculptures spotted throughout Cottesloe and take yourself on a leisurely tour, or check them off the list each time you're in the area!

The Sculpture by the Sea exhibition originated in Sydney on Bondi Beach in 1997. It found its way to the West coast on Cottesloe Beach in 2005 and since then has been entertaining hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for the exhibition periods.

Perth Water Bike Adventures

Go waterbiking on the Swan River with either a one-hour bike hire or a guided tour around idyllic Matilda Bay.

Description

Surfing at City Beach

City Beach is a left hand beach break that breaks off the groyne and is often crowded as it can only support a small crowd of surfers. Popular location for groms.

Description

City Beach Groyne works best during the winter months in easterly winds and west-southwest swells. The break is a short ride that breaks beside the groyne over a shallow sand bank and is best suited to the intermediate surfer.

 

 

Surfing at Cottesloe Beach

Cottesloe is a fairly exposed beach and groyne break that is relatively consistent all year around.

Description

Cottesloe Beach offers left and right-handers on either side of the groyne, with the south side being a popular break for long borders and stand up paddle boarders. The break works best in offshore east-southeasterly winds with swells coming from the southwest, on a mean tide. During summer the break will reamin relatively flat however, it will sometimes produce a small rolling wave perfect for the beginner surfer. Cottesloe is often crowded, especially when the waves are good. Beware of the reef, rocks and rips. 

 

 

 

UWA Cultural Precinct

The Cultural Precinct oversees exhibition programs and collaborates on music, theatre, publishing and broader arts and cultural events that take place throughout the year at UWA.

It manages the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery and the three major cultural collections: The Berndt Museum, The Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art and the University of Western Australia Art Collection while overseeing the sculptures, murals and artworks installed around the grounds and in major buildings on the Crawley campus.  

UWA Kids Holiday Program

The UWA Kids Holiday Program is full of fun and excitement for children aged 4–12, run by an experienced team of enthusiastic and friendly leaders

Summer Kids Holiday Program: Monday 6 January–Friday 31 January, 2020

Enrolment and Activity Schedules for the Summer Program will be available from Monday 9 December

With a focus on participation and having a good time, this program is excellent for introducing kids to new sports in a friendly, non-competitive environment, and for keeping them active and happy during the school holidays. All leaders are trained in a variety of sports and each holds a First Aid qualification and Working with Children check.

Program Structure

  • Daily $66 per child
  • Weekly special: 5 days for the price of 4
  • All sessions run from 9am to 4pm
  • Drop off: 8–9am
  • Pick up: 4–5.30pm
