Situated in the Pioneer Valley, approximately 50 kilometres west of Mackay City, this dam offers a peaceful and picturesque destination. Teemburra Dam is a man-made structure built in 1997 for town water storage and irrigation purposes.

It has a surface area of 1040 hectares and can hold up to 147,500 megalitres of water when at full capacity. Nature lovers will find Teemburra Dam to be a paradise with a variety of flora and fauna to admire.

The area is home to birds, fish, and even platypus. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy Sooty Grunter and Barramundi fishing, thanks to the efforts of the local fish stocking group MAFSA.

Boating enthusiasts can make use of the single lane concrete ramp available, but note that there are restrictions on boat size and water skiing is not allowed. Camping at the dam is currently not allowed, but visitors can find accommodation in nearby locations such as Finch Hatton Gorge, Eungella National Park, and Kinchant Dam.

Fishing enthusiasts are required to obtain a Stocked Impoundment Permit (SIP) to fish at Teemburra Dam, which can be purchased online or through selected retail stores. The best time to visit Teemburra Dam is from March to October when the temperatures are cooler and the weather is pleasant.

It is also recommended to visit during the weekdays to avoid crowds. Accessing the dam is easy with a normal vehicle, as there is a fully sealed road that links it to Mackay City.
