About Parramatta River Cycleway

Parramatta River Cycleway is a things to do venue in Parramatta, New South Wales.

It is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, offering a great way to explore the city while staying active. The cycleway stretches from Morrison Bay Park in Ryde to Parramatta Park in Parramatta.

The route of the cycleway mostly follows the Parramatta River, providing stunning views of the river and the surrounding greenery. It includes dedicated bike paths, quiet streets, and the river foreshore.

There is a short on-road section along Lancaster Avenue in Melrose Park, but it is generally safe and suitable for cycling. The cycleway passes through the Ermington Nature Reserve, where elevated steel mesh boardwalks offer fantastic views of the wetlands.

A new link was opened in June 2017, eliminating the need for cyclists to follow a short on-road section via Pike Street and South Street Rydalmere to Subiaco Creek. Another elevated steel mesh boardwalk takes cyclists through the Baludarri Wetlands, providing an opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.

Cyclists crossing Macarthur Street in Parramatta will enjoy a stunning view of the Parramatta River Bridge. To continue along the south side of the river, the Gasworks Bridge can be used before crossing back over to the north side at Parramatta ferry wharf.

The tunnel under the Lennox Bridge, which caused controversy in 2015, is now open and connects the cycleway with Parramatta Park. The cycleway also offers connections to other parts of Sydney.
