It is known for being the deepest freshwater lake on the island. The 3.1 km Lake Wabby Track offers picturesque views of the Hammerstone Sandblow and culturally significant attractions for the local Butchulla Aboriginal people.

One of the main attractions of this hiking trail is Lake Wabby itself. It is the deepest freshwater lake on Fraser Island and is located next to the Hammerstone Sandblow, which is slowly encroaching on the lake.

The lake covers about 12 hectares and is approximately 12 meters deep. Swimming is allowed, but caution should be exercised as the water is deeper than it appears.

Hiking along the trail is a pleasurable and healthy experience, surrounded by dense greenery and the beautiful lake. The trail leads to a lookout platform that offers an amazing view of the lake.

Visitors can also observe diverse wildlife and plants that thrive in the area throughout the year. Lake Wabby is open all year round, but it is most attractive during the summer months from December to February when there is plenty of sunshine and minimal rainfall.

The water level of the lake fluctuates, providing visitors with different sights throughout the year. To reach Lake Wabby, it is 4.1 kilometers north of Eurong.

The hiking trail is a short 1.5-kilometer walk from the beach or a 1.7-kilometer walk from the car park off Lake Wabby Road. Visitors who prefer a shortcut can opt for a 4WD vehicle to navigate
