Lake Monger is a popular tourist attraction, drawing up to 12,000 visitors per week. It offers a range of recreational facilities, including a 3.5-kilometer walking/cycling track that circles the lake.

The flora and fauna of Lake Monger are diverse. In the past, the area was home to swampland trees, but today the vegetation consists mainly of rushes, wattle, tea tree, and Xanthorrhoea.

There is a narrow strip of trees along the shoreline on the northern and eastern sides. The lake is also a habitat for various bird species, including black swans, cormorants, spoonbills, and pelicans.
