Hinze Dam is a things to do venue in Gold Coast, Queensland.

It is a rock and earth-fill embankment dam that provides potable water supply to the Gold Coast region. The dam is named after local pioneers Carl and Johanna Hinze.

It is 108 metres high and 1,850 metres long, with a 150.5×10^6 cubic feet dam wall. The impounded reservoir, known as Advancetown Lake, has a surface area of 3,700 acres and can hold 310,730 megalitres of water when full.

The dam’s catchment area covers 207 square kilometres and includes the Numinbah Valley and Springbrook Plateau. The Hinze Dam offers flood mitigation to populated areas downstream of the Nerang River.

It also features an un-gated spillway that can discharge 550 cubic metres of water per second. Until 2008, the dam was managed by Gold Coast City Council, but it is now under the management of Seqwater.

Advancetown Lake is a popular spot for recreational activities among Gold Coast residents. Visitors can enjoy walking, boating, fishing, biking, and horse riding.

The facilities, including an interpretive centre, parking spaces, walking trails, toilets, and barbecue areas, are open daily from 6 am to 6 pm. The lake has two boat ramps, one on the western side and another on the eastern side.

Some residents and politicians have criticized the final design of the dam, as it has reduced facilities for playgrounds, boating, and barbecues,
