About Heirisson Island
Heirisson Island is a things to do venue in Perth, Western Australia.
Later, French midshipman François-Antoine Boniface Heirisson who was on the French ship Le Naturaliste named the island after himself during a scientific expedition led by Nicolas Baudin between 1801 and 1804. Captain James Stirling later investigated the area in 1827 just before the Swan River Colony was settled in 1829.
The single island is now a landscaped nature reserve, complete with a 2 km (1.2 mi) walking path, playground area for young children and public toilets. The park’s serene environment is a favorite for many who enjoy a relaxing walk, bird watching, or taking a quiet stroll to immerse themselves in the surrounding nature.
