About Darling Range

It is named after Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling and has been traversed by settlers since the 1830s. The Darling Scarp is part of the larger Darling Fault, which separates the Yilgarn Craton from the Pinjarra Orogen and Perth Basin.

The region is predominantly a Jarrah Forest bioregion, with jarrah and marri forests dominating the area. The escarpment has been used for stone quarries, forestry, and bauxite mining.

Conservation efforts are ongoing, with initiatives to revitalize the forests and preserve the area as a camping location. The highest points of the Darling Range are Mount Cooke and Mount Dale.
