Description

Mungo National Park is an expansive natural wonderland located in south-western New South Wales.

It covers 110,967 hectares of land and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Willandra Lakes Region. The park is known for Lake Mungo, the second-largest ancient dry lake, and the Walls of China, a series of lunettes.

Within Mungo National Park, visitors can explore the archaeological remains of Mungo Man and Mungo Lady, the oldest known human remains in Australia. The park also offers a visitor center, accommodations at the Shearers' Quarters and an eco-lodge, and various access points from nearby towns.

Mungo National Park was acquired for the National Reserve System in 1979 and has been actively conserved by the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife. The park is committed to preserving its natural features and ensuring the protection of its flora and fauna.

Whether you're interested in history or nature, Mungo National Park offers a unique blend of both.
