Description

The Mornington Bay Trail is a 30 km shared pathway that runs along the beautiful Port Phillip coast from Safety Beach to Portsea.

It offers great views of the foreshore reserve, sandy beaches, and clear waters of Port Phillip.

The Safety Beach to Dromana stretch of the trail is particularly picturesque, starting at the Martha Cove Underpass and passing by the Safety Beach Sailing Club. It takes you along the white sandy beach and past notable landmarks such as the Safety Beach Jetty and the historic Dromana pier.

Continuing from Dromana to Rosebud, the trail showcases stunning coastlines, lighthouses, and historic lime kilns. It passes through McCrae with its lighthouse and the McCrae Yacht Squadron, offering a scenic route through banksia and tea tree forests. The trail ends at the pier in Rosebud, known for its picturesque foreshore and shell-covered beaches.

The section from Rye to Blairgowrie takes you through impressive stands of Moonah trees and offers a relaxing stop at the Blairgowrie shops. It finishes at the Rye Pier, providing a pleasant coastal walk.

The Eastern Sister Headland connects Camerons Bight to Sullivan Bay and allows easy access to the historic Eastern Sister Headland. This section features a crushed rock pathway and provides better access to the Collins Settlement Historic site, the first European settlement in Victoria.
