Located near Apollo Bay, off the famous Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary Marengo protects 12 hectares of ocean waters.

The sanctuary is approximately 150 meters offshore and is home to a magnificent reef system known as Little Henty Reef. The reef system is comprised of sandstone and is a paradise for intertidal and subtidal reefs that teem with life.

Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary Marengo offers visitors a chance to explore a diverse range of habitats that support an incredible variety of marine species. Exploring the intertidal reef, visitors will come across many invertebrates, including sea snails, tube worms, and abalone. In slightly deeper waters, visitors will see beautiful seaweed gardens, including towering Bull Kelp forests, and beds of delicate green and red species. Calmer waters between the two small islands support colourful soft corals, sponge gardens, and sea urchins. The diverse range of habitats provides resources for a huge range of species that visitors can discover while exploring.

Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary Marengo is open year-round, with the best times to explore the sanctuary being during low tide. During this time, visitors can witness the intertidal reef and the many invertebrates that live there.
