Description

Located in Casterton, Victoria, Australia, Bilston's Tree is a spectacular 800-year-old red gum.

Once known as 'Big Tree' or 'The Big Fella', it is now named after its discoverer, Mr. Reg Bilston. The best thing to do at Bilston's Tree is to take a short walk to see the impressive sight. Although the area around the tree is not well-maintained, visitors can still enjoy the stroll and find an explanatory board with relevant information. It is not recommended to bring food and drink to the picnic area. The best time to visit Bilston's Tree is during the summer months from December to February when the weather is warm and dry. To get to the tree, visitors can drive to Casterton and take the unmade road leading to the tree. Despite the long drive, the short and easy-distance walk is worth it. A visit to Casterton is not complete without a visit to Bilston's Tree.
