From coming-of-age heart-warmers like Playthings to stage renditions of George Orwell’s satirical Animal Farm, this year’s season from Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA offers something for everyone.

Thanks to Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA, we have 10 Double Passes up for grabs to see Playthings on Monday, May 3. To go into the draw, subscribe to the Scoop Newsletter or, if you are already subscribed, you can refer a friend using the referral form. Winners will be drawn on April 29, so watch out for the announcement in your email!

Playthings follows the lives of two 13-year-old outcasts, Arnold and Lucy, who go out into the bush one day in search of a dying kangaroo and come back irreversibly changed. Crammed with laughter and cutting truths, the critically acclaimed production brings teenage angst and discovery to the stage, reminiscent of young love and first times with a dark twist.

For theatre-buffs familiar with the play, Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA have breathed new life into the story with a rendition that stays true to the story, but delves deeper into the characters with new dialogue, added details and even a new song. To get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the production, check out our interview with Director Scott McArdle.
