Devil’s Gullett is famous for its breathtaking views. The steep, narrow glacial gorge is formed by vertical dolerite cliffs, reaching 220 meters high and covered by alpine forests.

A 20-minute trail walk leads to an overhanging lookout, offering stunning views of the gorge. From this viewpoint, you can see Mt Ossa, Tasmania’s highest point, as well as the Fisher and Mersey river valleys, Walls of Jerusalem, and the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair World Heritage Area.

The site is ideal for rock climbing, photography, and hiking. The best time to visit Devil’s Gullett is between December and March when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear.

The easiest way to access Devil’s Gullett is by car. It is located at the end of a 19 km unsealed gravel access road, about 36 km south of Mole Creek.

The site is easily reachable in standard vehicles, and the 20-minute boardwalk is suitable for all ages. There are no visitor facilities at Devil’s Gullett, as the site has been left in its natural state.

Visitors are encouraged to bring drinking water, snacks, and necessary supplies. It is advised to dress appropriately
