Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha is a things to do venue in Toowong, Queensland.

It was established in 1970 and covers 52 hectares. The gardens feature various attractions such as the Tropical Display Dome, Japanese Garden, Bonsai House, Fern House, Arid Zone and Cactus House, Exotic Rainforest, Australian Rainforest, Fragrant Plant and Herb Garden, Temperate Garden, Lagoon and Bamboo Grove, and Australian Plant communities.

There is also a National Australia Remembers Freedom Wall for contemplation and reflection. The gardens are open daily and free to enter, but dogs are not allowed.

The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is located near the entrance of the gardens and offers a Cosmic Skydome experience. The Mount Coot-tha Library, specializing in botany and astronomy, is also situated within the garden.

The Japanese Garden at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha is a traditional Japanese garden designed by Kenzo Ogata. It features Australian trees, native shrubs, and flowers.

The garden’s theme is ‘tsuki-yama-chisen’ or ‘mountain-pond-stream’ and includes a 100-year-old stone water bowl for purification rituals. The garden also has a commemorative dedication plaque and hosts an annual Japan Cultural Festival.

Visitors can easily access the gardens by car or public transportation, making it a perfect location for relaxation and appreciation of nature.
