Building to a strict deadline, Crothers Construction was engaged to construct and fit out Geraldton’s newest educational institution, the Wandina Primary School, in just 38 weeks.
Creating an easily maintained workspace with a clean appearance, while still providing a stimulating learning environment for students, was a key component of the project brief for Crothers Construction. The completed building and school grounds were a perfect marriage between form, function, structure and budget, offering the latest in educational design and functional excellence.
Designed by Geraldton architects Eastman Poletti Sherwood, the interior design of the Wandina Primary School focuses on finishes that are timeless, hard-wearing and easy to maintain.
Externally, the complex incorporates extensive waterwise landscaping and grassed areas. Its external features also include two separate playgrounds complete with play equipment and covered by shade sails, with paved footpaths connecting all buildings.
The school consists of two teaching block buildings, an administration building, and a multi-use canteen and covered assembly area, which features a purpose-built music room.
The completed project included end-to-end construction of the buildings, fully reticulated landscaping, installation of LED screens in every classroom, motorised solar lighting, and floor coverings throughout.
