Description
The City of Busselton’s ArtGeo Cultural Complex is a creative hub for the visual and performing arts housed in heritage-listed buildings on Queen Street, close to Busselton’s much-loved foreshore. Once linked to the Jetty, the heritage-listed Courthouse, built in 1860, is one of the oldest buildings in Busselton and played an important role in its settlement history.
Walk through the buildings and feel the history within their walls. Explore the gaol cells and imagine being locked up for 14 days for disorderly conduct in a public place behind one of the heavy wooden doors.
The Courthouse Gift Shop reflects the transition from colonial courthouse to modern-day art house. Once inside, you'll discover a tempting range of high quality locally crafted art, jewellery, pottery, cards, photography and woodwork.
Set in the rear courtyard of the complex, there are two artist in residence studios featuring ceramic artist Tracie Anderson and jewellery designer Nalda Hoskins. The general public are welcome to visit these studios, which were once stables, to see the artists at work.
The cultural precinct is also home to the Busselton Art Society, the Busselton Woodturners' Association and the children's theatre group Acting Up. A sheltered courtyard, bush food garden and life-size bronze sculptures augment the ambience of the precinct.
Open daily 10am to 4pm, free entry.

Description
The building was built at a contract price of £1200 by expiree Joseph Walton in 1870-71 using ticket-of-leave labour.
By 1874 the building had a lean-to addition added to the north side which served as a post and telegraph office. The native cell to the west and some of the rear yard walls were demolished in the mid 1950's.
The building served as a police station, courthouse and quarters until 1983. In early 1984 the building was occupied by the Tourist Centre and between 1984 and 1987 extensive restorations were funded and carried out by the Dongara Old Police Station Restoration Committee with additional funding through a grant form the WA Heritage Committee.
In 2000, the Society built additional museum display space on the site of the former horse stables at the rear of the building jointly funded by LotteryWest Small Museums Grant and the Society.
Currently the building is operated by the Irwin District Historical Society as a research office with historic displays, the Dongara Magistrates Court is held each month in the former Day Room.

Description
The Roundhouse was built to hold any person convicted of a crime in the settlement and was used until 1886. After it ceased being used as a gaol it became a Police Lock-up until the late 1890s and then was used as accommodation for the Water Police, and afterwards as a storage facility for Fremantle Ports. When threatened with demolition in the 1920s it was saved and later control went to the State Government before it was deeded to the City of Fremantle.
