Located inside the Old Perth Technical School building, Bar Lafayette is an artisanal cocktail bar that offers functions with a distinct difference.
Opening in 1910, it was designed by the architect Hillison Beasley in his characteristic ‘blood and bandages’ style, with red and white stones, and was listed on the State Register of Heritage Places on 9 January 1998.
Since then, the Old Perth Tech has undergone complete refurbishment, and reopened its doors to the public in 2012 in the form of Bar Lafayette. In its first year of opening, it was named Winner of the 2013 AHAWA Small Bar of the Year Award.
The venue is styled in a comfortable ‘Old World’ theme, with chaise longues and Chesterfield couches, vintage lamps and artworks setting the mood. The rabbit-warren layout of Lafayette makes it great for functions, offering intimate rooms for 25, 45 or 70, right up to a maximum capacity of 120 guests.
The seating and furniture is all modular, so the venue can be set up to cater for all types of functions and can accommodate any requests or additions you may have, such as venue decor, an oyster shucker, PA system and more.
As well as offering an extensive array of liquor and boutique beer and wines, the
Bar’s unsung hero is its share plates and contemporary bar food.
