Clos Henri Vineyard: A unique winery experience in Marlborough, New Zealand Clos Henri Vineyard is a family-owned winery located in the Wairau Valley of Marlborough, New Zealand.

Run by the famous Sancerre wine-growing family of Henri Bourgeois, the vineyard specializes in terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Tasting room in a charming old chapel

The winery's tasting room is set in a charming old chapel amongst the vines, providing a unique and attractive atmosphere for visitors. The wine tasting includes two Sauvignon Blanc and two Pinot Noir, which will take visitors on a journey around the estate and reveal the specificity of each type of soil. They will learn how it expresses itself through these two wine varieties.

Unique soil types shape Clos Henri wines

The Clos Henri estate features three unique soil types on-site that shape the different styles of Clos Henri wines. The Bourgeois family sought a site like their own in Sancerre where ultra-premium Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir could be grown. They undertook a lengthy world search of possible wine regions and after extensive exploration, Marlborough presented itself with appropriate soil matches for the varieties here in the Wairau Valley.

Organic and sustainable winery

Visitors can enjoy a wine tasting experience at Clos Henri Vineyard for a fee of $5.00 per adult. The winery is sustainably run and produces wine organically, with respect for the natural world, and the people involved in the process. The winery was built in 2009, and the first vintage took place in March of that year.
