Description

Located in the Victoria state of Australia, Mount Donna Buang is a stunning mountain in the southern stretches of the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range.

Tourists can reach the mountain via Warburton, which is the nearest serviced town to the mountain. Mount Donna Buang is approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) from Melbourne, with an elevated height of 1,250 metres (4,101 ft.), making it the closest snow field to Melbourne.

In winter, the mountain usually receives snow, leading the tourists to visit for snow play and tobogganing. During non-winter months, the area is well-visited by bushwalkers and cyclists. The summit is surrounded by alpine ash (or woollybutt) trees and sub-alpine snow gums. As well as this, those who prefer a bird's eye view of the mountain can make their way to the Mount Donna Buang Skywalk at nearby Cement Creek, where they can take a canopy walkway through myrtle beech and mountain ash trees.

The lower and middle slopes of Mount Donna Buang are covered with very tall forests of mountain ash with a cool temperate rainforest mid-story on the southern slopes and sheltered areas elsewhere on the mountain. The zone is characterized by myrtle beech trees, soft tree ferns, and large shrubs like hazel pomaderris. On the higher slopes, woollybutt and snow gum trees are predominant, with myrtle beech being present throughout most of the mountain's height.
