Description

Lake Cobbler, located in Victoria, was created in the 1960s by damming a swamp area in the headwaters of the Dandongadale River.

This small lake is a popular destination for tourists who are looking to enjoy the beauty of nature. The lake is surrounded by stunning snow gums and has quiet and beautiful areas for short-term camping.

Lake Cobbler offers a range of activities for visitors. It provides a picture-perfect backdrop for a picnic or fishing, and there are several walking tracks around the lake to explore. You can take a leisurely stroll along the lake to absorb the sights and sounds of nature or go on a more challenging hike to nearby Mount Cobbler. Along the way, visitors can catch glimpses of pink sandstone slopes and conglomerate slopes of Mt Typo.

The best time to visit Lake Cobbler is during the mild weather conditions in late autumn and early spring. This is when you can expect to see the stunning snow gums in full bloom. During the winter, the area can be quite cold and there is a possibility of snow.

The lake is located in the Wabonga area and there is very rough 2WD access from Bennies to Lake Cobbler when the weather is dry. Visitors can take a scenic drive through the picturesque farming valley of the Rose River before ascending to the subalpine woodlands of Lake Cobbler. The drive takes you through riverine forest and foothill bushland before you finally reach Lake Cobbler. The last section of the road provides dramatic glimpses of the Dandongadale Falls.

Lake Cobbler Walking Track is worth a visit for those looking for an adventure or just wanting to experience the beauty of nature.
