Description

The Tallangatta To Old Tallangatta Stroll is a scenic walk that explores the history and architecture of Tallangatta.

It is accessible for wheelchairs and prams, making it easy for visitors to enjoy the sights and sounds of the area. The walk follows the edge of Lake Hume and meanders one way from Tallangatta to Old Tallangatta with a length of six meters.

Tallangatta is recognised by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) as one of two "Notable Towns." The town's civic and commercial buildings were redesigned in the prevailing 1950s architectural style, making it one of the most unique towns in the region. The walk takes visitors to Old Tallangatta, where you can see remnants of the historic town during low water levels of Lake Hume. The walk features numerous informative signs that provide a rich history lesson for visitors. The Old Tallangatta Lookout is an excellent spot to take in the stunning views of the Old Tallangatta township and surrounding scenery.

Visitors can also enjoy a picnic at the picnic shelter and seating area at the lookout before making their way back along the trail. The walk provides an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the natural scenery of the region while immersing themselves in the history and culture of Tallangatta and its people.

The trail is open year-round, and visitors are encouraged to go during daylight hours so they can appreciate the scenery and take photos. Summer months are the warmest time of the year, and visitors should take precautions against the sun and heat. Autumn and spring are pleasant seasons, with cooler temperatures that make it easier for visitors to enjoy a longer walk.
