Description

St Kilda Botanical Gardens is a beautiful travel destination located in the suburb of St Kilda, Victoria, Australia.

Established in the 1800s, the gardens were formally gazetted and opened in 1861. The site of the gardens was once a gravel pit and rubbish dump but is now transformed into a lush and leafy parkland with more than 800 trees, shrubs, and flowering plants. The gardens are one of the city's best-maintained botanic gardens, making it a must-see destination for both locals and tourists alike.

The best things to see and do at St Kilda Botanical Gardens are taking a leisurely stroll on the wide gravel paths, sprawling on the inviting lawns, and enjoying the local indigenous plants and wildlife. The gardens also feature a subtropical-rainforest conservatory, a rose garden, and an ornamental pond home to a family of ducks. Visitors can also play giant chess on the giant chessboard or enjoy a picnic in the gardens.

The best time to visit St Kilda Botanical Gardens is during the spring and summer months (September to February) when the weather is warm and sunny. During these months, the gardens are in full bloom, and visitors can enjoy the colorful display of flowers and foliage.

The gardens are open between sunrise and sunset seven days a week, and the conservatory is open between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm all weekdays and from dawn to dusk Saturday to Sunday and on public holidays. St Kilda Botanical Gardens is located on the former site of a gravel pit and rubbish dump, bordered by Dickens Street, Tennyson Street, and Blessington Street.
