Description

Portsea Pier is an iconic landmark located in the heart of Portsea, nestled within a sandy cove named 'Weeroona Bay'.

It consists of two platforms and is a popular spot for scuba diving, snorkelling, and fishing. The water around the pier is usually calm and safe for swimming, but tidal currents increase offshore.

Activities at Portsea Pier include scuba diving to explore the ocean bed and discover sea creatures, snorkelling in the shallow waters around the pier to observe marine life, and fishing from the ample space provided. Visitors can also explore the nearby beaches and bathing boxes, including a small sandy beach to the left of the pier and a long narrow beach with pretty bathing boxes.

Currently, work is being done to create a temporary rock bund to protect the sandbag wall during storms to the right of the pier. The best time to visit Portsea Pier is during the summer months when the weather is warm and mild. The pier is open to the public every day of the year and can be accessed by car or public transportation, with street parking available along Point Nepean Road and a nearby bus stop serviced by the number 788 bus.
