Sandridge Beach

Attractions

Port Melbourne, VIC 3207

Description

Sandridge Beach is a tranquil beach located in Port Melbourne, just 5km from Melbourne CBD.

While not a popular swimming spot due to the abundance of seaweed in the water, the calm and flat waters invite visitors for a shallow paddle on a hot day. The beach is often patrolled by surf lifesavers on weekends during the warmer months. The beach is surrounded by piers and port facilities, but recent redevelopment of the surrounding area, including new beach amenities and landscaping have produced a reasonably attractive beach. It's a good place for long walks and is also a dog off-leash area, making it a great place to take your furry friend for a walk. There is a decent walking track and a slim park area behind the beach.

The best time to visit Sandridge Beach is during the warmer months when surf lifesavers patrol the beach on weekends. The summer months of December to February are the warmest, with average temperatures ranging from 14°C to 26°C.

The beach is easily accessible by car, with good parking available. If you prefer public transport, you can take the train to Southern Cross Station and then take the 109 tram towards Port Melbourne, getting off at the Graham Street stop. From there, it's a short walk to the beach.
