Description

Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden is a 100-acre botanical garden located in Olinda, Victoria, Australia.

It is nestled in the Dandenong Ranges and offers stunning views of the surroundings. The garden is home to over 50,000 plants, including rare and endangered species. It features smaller gardens, such as the peaceful Japanese Garden.

The gardens were established in 1960 by the Australian Rhododendron Society. They were mostly destroyed in the 1962 bushfire but were eventually restored. The garden has grown significantly since its inception, with contributions from the Rhododendron Society and collections from Nepal, India, and New Guinea.

In recent years, the garden has undergone changes, including a name change to Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden. The former Olinda golf course adjacent to the gardens was converted into parkland. The garden also received funding to develop an Australian Garden.

One of the main attractions of the garden is the cherry blossoms in Cherry Tree Grove, which bloom between September and early October. There is also an ornamental lake and walking trails throughout the garden.

The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden is a must-visit for nature lovers, gardening enthusiasts, and anyone seeking the beauty of the Dandenong Ranges. Visitors will be amazed by the diverse plant collection and the peaceful atmosphere of the garden.
