Three Pyramids

Located on the sheltered western side of Lady Elliot Island, the Three Pyramids is a collection of three coral bommies that rise from the sand in depths of about 20m.

These coral heads attract a variety of marine life, making it a fantastic dive experience.

On the Three Pyramids, divers can find octopus, shrimps, crabs, nudibranchs, and leaf scorpionfish. Turtles, coral trout, batfish, moray eels, and tasselled wobbegongs also call these bommies home. The largest bommie is a popular cleaning station for manta rays, making it ideal for underwater photography. Visitors can also explore the sand between and around the bommies to spot stingrays, shovelnose rays, leopard sharks, and colonies of garden eels. Snorkeling is also available, offering glimpses of colorful marine life.

Lady Elliot Island is diveable all year round, but the best time to visit is during the winter months of June to August when water visibility improves. The water temperature ranges from 22 - 28°C, and air temperature varies between 19 - 30°C. It is advised to avoid visiting during the summer months of November to February due to poor visibility from algae blooms.

To reach Lady Elliot Island, visitors can take a scenic flight from Bundaberg or Hervey Bay, which takes approximately 45 minutes. Alternatively, a ferry from Bundaberg is available, taking approximately 4 hours. Prior bookings are essential for flights and ferry services.
