Description

The Karuah River is a stunning drowned valley estuary located in the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales, Australia.

It has a course measuring 101 kilometers in length and descends about 600 meters over its course. The river flows in a southeasterly direction and is joined by approximately eleven tributaries before emptying into Port Stephens at Karuah and flowing out to the Tasman Sea. Initially known as Clyde, the name Karuah was adopted later and became more prevalent over time. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful views of the river while engaging in activities such as boating, kayaking, and fishing. There are also picnic tables and rest areas along the banks for relaxation and enjoyment of the scenery.
