The Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing is a 37-kilometre, three-day hike that takes you through some of Australia's most pristine mountain scenery.

It connects the alpine resorts of Falls Creek and Hotham, crossing the Bogong High Plains in the Victorian Alps.

One of the main attractions of this trek is the opportunity to be surrounded by stunning mountain vistas. You can walk over high alpine ridge lines, through magical riverside valleys, and explore wetlands teeming with life. You'll spend two nights under the twinkling stars, providing ample opportunities to unwind and enjoy the tranquil beauty of this ancient country.

The most popular season for this trek is summer, when wildflowers are in bloom and the cool alpine air offers a welcome break from the heat below. Moderate fitness is required for the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing, with certain sections of the trek requiring stamina.

For adventurers looking for more extensive options, a 57-kilometre, five-day and four-night route is being planned, including the Diamantina Spur and Razorback, with an optional ascent of Mount Feathertop. This extended route will offer different experience options, catering to all types of walkers. Stage 1 of this project is due for completion by 2024.

To get to Falls Creek, drive along the Kiewa Valley Highway from either Mount Beauty or Myrtleford, follow the Bogong High Plains Road for 30 kilometres, then take the Falls Creek Road for the remaining 30 kilometres.
