Description

Edible Forest Yarra Valley Dixons Creek is a hidden gem within the Yarra Valley Estate property.

It is a place where unique edible plants are grown and unique experiences created in the midst of fresh air. The ultimate goal of the forest is to support the growth of over 1000 plants with over 350 different varieties, and each has its unique purpose. Some of the purposes for the plants include being edible, medicinal, nutritional, for soil health, companion planting, as well as bee attracting.

The Edible Forest uses Hügelkultur and Permaculture methods to create a conscious design for the forest. Permaculture methods are based on three ethics- care of the planet, care of the community, and taking personal responsibility for your life. These three ethics are in line with the philosophy of the Edible Forest. The abundant vegetation in the forest is chemical free, proudly organically grown, and has created a sustainable and healthy eco-system.

The Edible Forest is home to a wide range of natural wildlife such as birds, bees, and butterflies. They aid in the pollination of the plants and help scatter seed around the garden, just like it would happen naturally within a forest. Seed gathering and plant shoots also allow for plant regeneration, providing an environment that supports the growth of the plants.

As you visit the Edible Forest Yarra Valley Dixons Creek, you will experience the calming and healing effect of nature. The forest provides you with an opportunity to enjoy the best that nature has to offer. You can take a walk around the garden, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the serenity of the environment.
