Description

Welcome to Casuarina Coastal Reserve, a protected area in the northern region of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

This pristine reserve spans approximately 1,361 hectares (3,363 acres) of land, featuring 8 kilometers (5 mi) of sandy beaches, Casuarina trees, and sandstone cliffs.

The reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including mangroves, paperbark forests, and monsoon vine thickets. Visitors can spot ospreys, sea eagles, cormorants, gulls, and various marine life, including crocodiles. Ground-dwelling mammals like the northern brushtail possum and the northern brown bandicoot thrive in the verdant forest land.

The reserve's history is evident in the Buffalo Creek boat ramp, which was constructed in the early 1970s. The Commonwealth of Australia Government acquired the reserve in 1978, leading to upgrades in the 1980s and 2001. Today, Casuarina Coastal Reserve is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable experience.
