Description

Located in Dandenong North, Dandenong Wetlands is a beautiful wetland that showcases nature's beauty.

It consists of extensive passive parkland and a series of wetlands that provide a habitat for native wildlife and improve the quality of the creek's water.

The area was previously unsuitable for development due to flooding, but in 2002 a plan was developed to turn it into usable parkland. The focus was on developing parkland and wetlands to improve water quality in Dandenong Creek.

The wetland is home to a variety of wetland birdlife, including ducks, herons, and birds of prey. Visitors can also hear frogs calling in the evenings. It's an ideal location to observe these animals and their behaviors.

There are various ways to explore the wetlands, including walking or biking on the graveled path network. There is also a viewing platform, a short boardwalk, and a bird hide for birdwatching. The park has a playground and picnic facilities for visitors to enjoy.

The park is open year-round with no admission fee. Spring and summer are the best times to see active wetland birdlife. The park offers facilities such as BBQs, parking, picnic areas, playgrounds, public toilets, seating areas, shelters, walking/cycling trails, and wetlands.

To access the park, visitors can drive to the Stud Road car park or take a walk or bike via the Dandenong Creek bike trail to enjoy the scenic beauty of the wetlands.
