Cowwarr Weir is a popular destination for recreation and non-powered water activities.

It offers lots of shady spots by the water, pleasant walks around the reserve, and is popular with bird-watchers. Cowwarr Weir is located in Gippsland near the township of Cowwarr and it supplies water to the Macalister Irrigation District. It is open every day between 8am and 8pm throughout the year.

Cowwarr Weir offers a range of activities and facilities including kayaking, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. You can pack a picnic and enjoy it on the available picnic tables while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Toilets are also available on-site for your convenience. While visiting Cowwarr Weir, there are some regulations that you must abide by. Camping or staying overnight is not allowed in the area. Additionally, you are not permitted to have fires or fire pits, leave rubbish, reserve picnic areas, or drive or ride motorbikes along the shoreline or in fenced areas. Entering prohibited areas, vandalizing facilities, hunting, carrying or discharging a firearm, riding or walking horses anywhere, including in the water, and undertaking any dangerous activities including abseiling, paraflying, shooting, and archery is strictly prohibited. Please refrain from using the park or picnic areas outside of opening hours.

If you wish to hold events at Cowwarr Weir, including festivals, birthday parties, weddings, and more, you must have prior permission.
