Description

Freycinet National Park is a natural wonderland located on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia.

It is Tasmania's oldest park and occupies the majority of the Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island. The park is predominantly composed of Devonian granite, with pink feldspar and black micas adding to its colorful terrain. It is known for preserving rare and endemic species, with 49 plant and animal species unique to Tasmania thriving within its boundaries. The park experiences a Mediterranean climate, with over 300 days of sunshine each year and an annual rainfall of approximately 600 mm. Management plans focus on preserving endangered and vulnerable species and supporting their survival within the park. The park's natural beauty and recreational activities attract visitors from all over the world, contributing significantly to the eastern Tasmanian economy. Wineglass Bay and The Hazards are popular attractions within the park, offering opportunities for activities such as bushwalking, fishing, camping, sea kayaking, and guided tours. Freycinet National Park is a must-visit destination for nature-lovers, offering unique geological formations, endemic flora and fauna, and a stunning coastline.
