Lake Kerferd Beechworth, located in North-Eastern Victoria, was established in 1862 to maintain water supply for gold mining activities.

Today, it retains an important place as Beechworth's main water supply. The lake area is a prime spot for nature lovers, offering plenty of opportunities to explore local wildlife and vegetation. Lovers of the great outdoors will find plenty to do here. The lake offers habitat to a rich diversity of animal and birdlife. You can take a five-kilometre walk through the surrounding bush lands, which offers stunning views of the natural scenery. Along with walk, pack yourself a picnic and relax while enjoying the stunning views and sounds around the lake. Take note that boating and swimming are not permitted in the lake. Lake Kerferd Beechworth is a year-round destination, as each season offers unique experiences for nature lovers. During summer, you can enjoy the blooming wildflowers and also observe a variety of bird species. During the winter season, take advantage of the cooler temperatures and explore the beauty of the lake during a peaceful stroll. Lake Kerferd Beechworth is located approximately 270 km from Melbourne - a drive of about 3 hours. If you choose not to drive, then the train or bus will take you to Wangaratta which is approximately 40 minutes from Beechworth. You can then arrange transport to the lake area.
