Description

Allans Flat Reserve is a great destination located approximately eight kilometres from Yackandandah, heading northeast on the Yackandandah-Wodonga Road.

The turn-off is easy to miss, so be attentive to find the unmade road that is the entrance to the reserve.

The lake at Allans Flat Reserve is a popular swimming hole for nearby residents, created during the gold rush days from dredge mining. The lake is spacious enough to enjoy a refreshing swim during warm summer days and evenings. It is an excellent spot to bring your own picnic and enjoy the amazing view of the lake's natural tranquillity.

Allans Flat Reserve is mainly managed as a Family Fishing Lake and is ideal for fishing enthusiasts. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout twice yearly and annually with golden perch. Fishing requires a recreational fishing licence for individuals between 18 and 70 years of age, which can be purchased from the visitor information centres in Yackandandah.

The perfect time to visit Allans Flat Reserve is in the warmer months due to the perfect swimming conditions the lake provides. Fishing season usually runs between October and April, so if you are an angler, it's best to plan to visit during this time.

Allans Flat Reserve is easily accessible by car, located just a short ten-minute drive from Yackandandah. To access the reserve, head towards the Yackandandah-Wodonga Road, where you will designate an unmade road that is the entrance to the reserve.
