Museums in Walgett Region

The Walgett Historical Society in the Walgett Region of New South Wales is dedicated to preserving and promoting historical information and artifacts. Housed in the original Walgett Shire Building built in 1913, the museum features a unique pressed tin interior. The society's collection includes photographs depicting life on the rivers and inventions by Frederick York Wolseley, such as the first mechanical shearing machine.

Operated by the Lightning Ridge Historical Society, the Heritage Cottage & Hospital Gallery showcases pre-1932 buildings in Lightning Ridge. The town also boasts Sweeney's Arts and Crafts, providing a space for locals to sell handmade arts and crafts. Additionally, visitors can explore the Bottle House, a unique building constructed from thousands of glass bottles.
