Wineries in Shoalhaven Region

The Shoalhaven Coast Wine Region in New South Wales is a prominent wine-growing area near Sydney, Wollongong, and Canberra, boasting 16 cellar doors and an annual production of around 500 tonnes of wine since 2002. This region stretches from Kiama in the North to Milton in the South and West to Kangaroo Valley, offering a diverse landscape of green valleys and beaches with a warm climate ideal for vineyards.

Known for its production of Chambourcin, a vibrant French red wine, the Shoalhaven Coast region also cultivates Chardonnay, Verdelho, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. The region's vineyards on north-facing slopes benefit from optimal sunlight exposure and drainage, contributing to the quality of the wines produced. Each year, the region hosts a Winter Wine Festival in June, drawing visitors with live music, fine food, winemaker's dinners, wine education talks, vineyard tours, and market stalls. Guests can enjoy tastings of wines and cheeses at participating wineries by purchasing a commemorative wine glass during the festival.
