Museums in Mundaring Area

The Mundaring area in Western Australia is home to two fascinating museums that showcase the region's rich history and cultural heritage. The Mundaring District Museum, opened in 1997, is managed by the Mundaring & Hills Historical Society. It features a permanent display about people, places, and events of historical interest to the Shire, with some exhibitions changing regularly to cover various themes. The Mundaring and Hills Historical Society, formed in 1989, aims to preserve, document, acquire, and interpret the history of the Eastern Hills near Perth, Western Australia.

The society has a large archive of information related to the history of the Shire of Mundaring and supports researchers, schools, and other groups in compiling local history. Its administration center, local studies library, and museum collection room are situated in the former Station Master's House, opposite the Mundaring Hotel. These museums provide a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the history and culture of the Mundaring area and its surroundings. With regularly changing exhibitions, visitors can always find something new to discover. The Mundaring District Museum is open from Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, and on Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
