Art Galleries in Moonee Valley Region

The Moonee Valley Region in Victoria is home to the Incinerator Gallery, a unique artistic venue located by the picturesque Maribyrnong River. Housed within the historic Essendon Incinerator, the gallery showcases a diverse collection of artworks created by professional artists and community members. The collection includes various media such as painting, sculpture, ceramic, glass, textile, public art, billboards, murals, and mosaics, which are displayed throughout Moonee Valley and Council venues. The Incinerator Gallery was initially opened as an arts complex in 2004 and was later renamed and refocused in 2011. The gallery is now part of Moonee Valley City Council and is a proud member of the Public Galleries Association of Victoria (PGAV).

Visitors to the Incinerator Gallery can enjoy free history tours led by Incinerator volunteers, allowing them to learn more about the venue's past and its transformation into the vibrant art space it is today. The gallery is open from 11 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Sunday during exhibitions but remains closed on public holidays and during exhibition changeover periods. As you plan your visit to Moonee Valley, be sure to include the Incinerator Gallery on your itinerary for an authentic and distinctive cultural experience.
