Wineries in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands of Victoria in southeastern Australia are home to various wine regions, including the Upper Goulburn Wine Region, known for its cool climate. The region exhibits diverse climatic conditions, resembling different wine regions at its western and eastern ends. Bounded by the Great Dividing Range and Bass Strait, the Upper Goulburn Wine Region consists of sub-regions with varying maritime influences, growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Pinot Gris grapes.

Impacted by bushfires in the summer of 2019-20, the Upper Goulburn Wine Region faced challenges in wine production. Nevertheless, numerous small wineries persist in crafting high-quality wines, adding to Victoria's reputation for intriguing wine offerings. Apart from the Upper Goulburn Wine Region, Bendigo is known for long-lived Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines, while Heathcote excels in rich, full-bodied red wines, particularly Shiraz. These regions enhance Victoria's diverse wine landscape, attracting visitors seeking unique Australian wine experiences.
