Wineries in Bundaberg Surrounds

Bundaberg Surrounds, particularly the North Burnett region, have garnered significant interest for vineyard plantings due to their unique climatic conditions along the coastal belt. This area is recognized for cultivating humidity and heat-resistant grape varieties, such as the Chambourcin French hybrid, as well as Shiraz, Grenache, Semillon, Verdelho, and Chardonnay. The Queensland wine industry is rapidly evolving to meet growing demand, with two officially designated wine regions: the Granite Belt and South Burnett. The Granite Belt, located on the New South Wales border, benefits from the cooling influence of the Great Dividing Range, enabling successful viticulture in Queensland's typically hot and wet climate. The South Burnett region, approximately 160km north-west of Brisbane, is renowned for its impressive Verdelhos, Chardonnays, Semillons, Merlots, and Cabernets.

Despite the challenges, the number of vineyards in Queensland is on the rise, particularly in cooler areas influenced by the Great Dividing Range, showing promising potential for successful viticulture.
