Museums in Batemans Bay Surrounds

Batemans Bay and its surroundings in New South Wales offer a variety of museums and galleries for visitors to explore. A prominent attraction is the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum, located in the town's former courthouse, police station, and residence. This heritage-listed building houses a mix of permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibitions showcasing local history, including Aboriginal heritage, medicine, education, crime and punishment, industry, military history, and domestic arrangements. The museum includes displays of local timber-town history, geology, disability-friendly exhibits, a kids' space, archival resources, and a visitor computer kiosk. It is open from Tuesday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with additional hours during school holidays and by appointment, and offers guided group tours for $7 per person.

In addition to the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum, the region is home to other galleries and museums, such as the Wombat Studio, a popular art gallery in the area.
