The Merredin Markets are a community driven event, organised by staff of the Merredin CRC and run by volunteers. Join us at Rockpool Perth for the West Australian Good Food Guide’s Christmas dinner event, WAGFG x Rockpool – A Night of Festivities, on Wednesday, 1 December. The ticketed event will see Rockpool Perth host an indulgent multi-course feast inspired by a treasure trove of West Australian produce and accompanied by award-winning WA wines. The menu showcases WA’s bountiful summer harvest and pays tribute to produce that traditionally bestows an Australian festive feast, including Akoya oysters from Leeuwin Coast, fresh local Goldband Snapper, Skull Island prawns, plums and peaches from Bickley Valley, local cranberries and hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts from MacNuts farm on the sandy coastal plain of Baldivis. An oyster shucking station and decadent canapes are followed by entrees to share, including Christmas Hams and Prawn Cocktails, then an indulgent ‘Main Feast’. A dessert showcase is one of pure festivity: Christmas Pudding with Eggnog, Pavlova with cream and fruit, Lamingtons with Davidson Plum Jam and Chantilly, and Pimm’s trifle Cost: $279 Per Person Event starts at 6pm Prepayment is required to secure a table at this event. Drawing repertoire from swing, trad. jazz, bebop, blues, New Orleans style music and more, The Swan River Ramblers combine a wealth of performance experience, with instrumental virtuosity and a keen sense of spontaneity. Led by bassplayer Pete Jeavons, the Swan River Ramblers (SRR) was formed in 2017 and, true to their name, the group initially performed as a roving quartet aboard the Paddlesteamer Decoy as it cruised the Swan River during WA’s warmer months. With many sold out shows aboard the PS Decoy now under their belt the Ramblers have added a drummer to their ranks and started to make a few appearances on land too, at venues such as Jazz Fremantle, The Ellington Jazz Club, The Duke of George and Lyric’s Underground. The band will take to the stage at Lyric’s Underground for a third time on Saturday December 11th featuring Adam Hall (trumpet/vocals), Adrian Galante (clarinet), Ray Walker (guitar) Daniel Susnjar (drums) and of course Pete Jeavons (double bass). Some enthrilling evenings dedicated to commemorate the historic opening of King Tutankhamun's tomb, ten years ago on the 26th November 1922, by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon is happening at His Majesty`s Theater from the 16th to 18th of December. Participants celebrate fancy cocktails and vegetarain and vegan friendly dinner while solving great murder mystery involving a recently discovered tomb believed to belong to the famous ancient Egypt`s Queen Nefertiti. Robert Mallowan who happens to be one of the ones to enter the tomb will brieft the mission of the evening with clues and questions to help solve the mystery. Participants will get to experience an interactive dinner theater show in goups of 10, dressed in the style of the period. So bring along your thinking hats and keep them on for you are going to need them.
