Cafès seem to come and go so when a new one opens that is serving fabulous, home made Greek fare, great coffee and tea and has a quirky, inner city vibe, it's time to check it out.

Bacetto Espresso
1/1327 Hay st, West Perth
Open weekdays 6.30am-3pm

When I heard that Rania Challis had finally decided to open her own cafè, I was thrilled. Rania has been a fixture on the Perth cafè scene for years and I have been pleading with her to start her own place for as long as I can rememeber. Some of you will recognise her from her days at Valentino's in Northbridge or she was often seen helping out at Boucla in Subiaco. Her Greek fare is well known to many for the simple reason that it is delicious. Couple this with her gorgeous, welcoming professionalism and you have the perfect recipe for cafè success.

Rania has taken over Bacetto Espresso in Hay St, next door to Julio's restaurant. The name is the same but the food is different and the counter is laden with all manner of yummies. From freshly made spinach and fetta pie, quiches and baguettes to light as a feather chocolate filled mini doughnuts and lemon drizzle cake. It's all Rania's and it's all delicious.

The space is long and narrow, with outdoor seating and both benches and tables inside. When I dropped in this morning with a few girlfriends, it was a hive of activity with people coming and going with their take aways, groups sitting down and having a chat and people just enjoying some great food and coffee and a few minutes of 'me time'. We tried all the goodies mentioned and can recommend each one.

Open Monday - Friday from 6.30 - 3.30pm, Bacetto is a welcome newcomer to our bustling cafè scene. There's plenty of street parking so make sure to check it out.
