As the weather heats up and the sunscreen and sunglasses come out, what better way to spend your summer than indulging in tasty, artisan, mouth-watering ice-cream? Forgo that summer body, and give in to these ice-cream treats across Perth!

Cloud Gelato

Tucked away in a little corner of the Perth CBD, Cloud Gelato is sure to transport you to Italy with their authentic flavours. Located in London Court, they specialise in rose-shaped gelato wrapped in a generous waffle. Soft and fluffy on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside, the team at Cloud Gelato also top off their cones with some sprinkles, marshmallows and chocolate!

Whisk Creamery

A Perth favourite, summer just wouldn’t be the same without Whisk Creamery. With two stores in Subiaco and Northbridge, the ice creamery specialises in highly embellished concoctions including topped up milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches. One of their specialities and local favourite the Taiyaki — a fish-shaped waffle cone with your ice-cream inside — is hefty enough to fill you up until dinner time.

Gelato 101 Vegan Artisan

When owner Wendy Goh converted to a plant-based lifestyle, she decided to open Gelato 101 as a plant-based dietary option for anyone and everyone with a sweet tooth. All flavours are dairy and lactose free, and of course, vegan and plant-based. Having moved from Cottesloe to Northbridge, Gelato 101 is now a must-visit city haunt – promising gelato flavours, thickshakes, freakshakes, waffles, and decorated gelato cakes you can pre-order!

Jersey Jack Gelato

Jersey Jack Gelato puts a fine-dining spin on ice-cream in South Perth. With beautiful, modern-looking architecture, this dessert parlour has some eclectic flavours like durian. They also offer other scrummy desserts like their waffle tower, donut sandwich and French crepes.

Chicho Gelato

If you’re in the mood to try something a bit different, then Chicho Gelato’s flavour collaborations are what you need. Situated in the heart of Northbridge with a funky interior, Chicho boasts tantalizing flavour combos such as ‘green tea roasted rice’ and ‘avocado candied bacon’. Plus, the folks at Chicho make an extra effort to source their ingredients from WA locals!

Cocco Bianco

Having just opened in September, Cocco Bianco is the newest place to go in Freo for your ice cream fix. With some staple favourites among some unique creations, these guys will have a flavour for everyone in the family. If you’re in the Fremantle area, this cosy little shop beckons.

Gusto Gelato

Trained in Bologna, Italy, the guys at Gusto Gelato make some if the most mouth-watering, authentic gelato in town. A two-shop operation in Leederville and Elizabeth Quay, they use traditional artisan production techniques – making going back to the basics taste so sweet! A generous caterer, they also provide vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options. You can also sign up to a gelato-making class – the perfect summer activity!
