The railway line from Perth to Bunbury was completed in 1893 and soon afterwards the Railway Station was built. In 1936 the Railway Station was extended and the building improved with the addition of rustic weatherboards to the exterior and the roof tiled.

For many years the Railway Station was the central point of activity for the district. By 1987, with the introduction of the modern "Australind" train, the Railway Station was no longer needed and closed.

The Station now houses the Harvey Museum and is the only Railway Station remaining in the Shire of Harvey.

Description

This was a Dream of the founder Mr. Hugh Manning, who was an avid collector of Agricultural Machinery and Tractors and who had been collecting since the 1960's. It was in February of 2004 that Hugh passed away.

He and his many friends got together and with sponsorship from Alcoa of Australia and the Serpentine/Jarrahdale Shire, land was made available in Wellard Street.

It was at this time the army of volunteers jumped in - site works, sand carting, landscaping, steam cleaning and restoration got started and so it came to be on September 18th, 1993.

"The Dream became the Reality and will continue growing today and into the future".

In 1994, the Museum won the Australia Day Award for 'Community Event of the Year'.

We are very pleased and proud that our efforts have been recognised.

During the mid 1920's WM Butler & Co of Wickepin established a machinery agency business in Kulin. In the late 1920's WH (Bill) Butler (WM's son) established in Kulin and took over the agency, developing it further with the construction of the garage on this site. The agencies functioned continuously right up until 1994. The garage has been restored and houses the Kulin Museum. The Museum is currently open on a Saturday morning from 8.30am – 12pm. See, hear and smell the machinery that played such an important part in the early life of our state.

Dozens of relics from WA’s agricultural past are on display at the Tractor Museum of WA. The collection includes nearly forty tractors, as well as stationary engines, vintage trucks, a display of country life artifacts and old photographs.

Of the tractors on display, the oldest is an operational 1920 Fordson; the rarest, a 1923 Bailor cultivator built in America; and one of the more unique is the HSCS crawler, built in Sweden and the only known one in Australia.

WA even had its own tractor manufacturer, Chamberlain Industries (subsequently taken over by John Deere before later closing down), and their original prototype tractor, the 40K, and the famous “Tail-end Charlie” are both on display.

A parade of restored vintage tractors from the Tractor Museum of WA chugs its way up to Revolutions Transport Museum, before returning through the Village Mall on the second Sunday of every month.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to see these marvelous relics in operation!
