How did you come up with the idea of Vegfest?

Vegfest is a term that refers to a vegan festival – so the concept itself is not new. However, I did look at why and how these types of festivals were successful, and tailored them to fit the Australian market.

Why is there a market for this type of event?

People are becoming increasingly interested in the reasons for and benefits of following a vegan diet, whether it's for their health, the environment or their compassion for other living beings. This explosion of interest and knowledge has then led to an increase in vegans, and therefore products and services that align with vegan values. Vegfest is a great platform to bring these two parties together.

What can we expect from the first year of Vegfest?

Vegfest promotes all things plant-based, vegan, cruelty-free, sustainable, organic, healthy and downright delicious! Free food samples, cooking demonstrations, nutrition and diet advice. Carnival rides, free yoga sessions, two stages with talks and live music, and more than 35 stalls. Connect with local producers, and enjoy tasting plates that will see you through from brunch to dinner. Entry is free.

Esplanade Park, Fremantle, vegfest.com.au.
